How the sandwich got its name

The humble sandwich got its name & reputation for convenience in our society when the disreputable John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, while playing cards, called for something decent to eat that wouldn't make his fingers greasy.

Doolittles wasn't around in the 18th century to serve him up one of our own wonders of taste, but we are passionate about how great the sandwich is as a meal, and we love the idea that in our own time every day thousands of people - most of them probably not playing cards - are enjoying our fabulous creations.
